Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Mental Health Treatment Plan to attend counselling?

No. You can access counselling without a referral or Mental Health Treatment Plan.

How do Medicare rebates work?

Eligible clients with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan can claim a Medicare rebate for individual counselling sessions.

Can I claim Medicare rebates for couples counselling?

No. Medicare rebates are generally available for eligible individual counselling sessions only.

Can I discuss more than one issue in counselling?

Eligible clients with a valid Mental Health Treatment Plan can claim a Medicare rebate for individual counselling sessions.

How many counselling sessions will I need?

There is no set number of sessions. Some people benefit from short-term support, while others choose ongoing counselling depending on their goals, circumstances, and needs.

Do I need to have everything figured out before booking?

Not at all. Many people reach out because they feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure where to start. The first session is an opportunity to explore what's been happening and discuss the support you're looking for.

Will I be locked into ongoing appointments?

No. You're free to attend counselling at a pace that works for you. Session frequency and duration are discussed collaboratively based on your needs and goals.

What if I've never been to counselling before?

No problem. Many clients are attending counselling for the first time. The first session is simply an opportunity to talk, ask questions, and explore your goals.
